Game 8 - Outlaws vs. Underdawgs (L 7-8)
You win some you lose one. Let's hope that this is our last pour offensive performance. We could not get a hit when it counted to save our lives. I had the bases loaded with a chance to drive in atleast two runs and I popped out. What can I say they played great defense and they played it with only 9 players. We came back in the late innings, however came up short. But one game is not going to define our season. We will learn from this and move on.

Game 7 - "I smell something fishy."
Outlaws vs. L.A. Boilers (W 10-7)
L.A. Boilers have been rolling through their opponents, piling up double digit leads. having multiple home run games, speeding around the bases. Not this game!
Wow where do I start? We were a little sluggish, tense, tight & maybe nervous starting out. They jumped out with a 5-0 lead in the top of the 1st. Our defense was good at first, however they were just hitting it where we weren't. We recovered just 2 runs in the bottom of the first making the score 5-2. Then our defense held them to 1 run in the 2nd and 1 run in the 3rd while we put up a goose egg in those innings. The score now was 7-2 and we were now in a defensive struggle.
There were many key defensive plays. Jacob & Rick were on fire in the outfield. Their speed allowed us to shift some things around and cover the field better. Jacob made it look easy. Rick however had a flair for the dramatic. Balls that should have gotten past him didn't. He made one catch right before it touched the field. Johnathan found his groove at short and made a couple put outs. Kimmy was solid at second & Lee is always on the mark. I underestimated the role of pitching in softball, before Lee took the mound. To him it is an art, pitching the right pitch in the right locating to the right batter. He works the strike zone very efficiently, going outside to guys that want to pull and inside to those who stand on the plate.
Momentum
Never underestimate the role momentum plays in any sport. When the breaks are going your way. When the crowd (I love our crowd!) is into it. When the hits drop. When the opposing pitcher cant hit the broad side of the barn. No matter what the situation momentum makes you believe in the impossible, momentum make you believe in yourself and the team. I never like to talk about myself and say how great I am (because I'm not). However I was involved in one of the plays that shifted the momentum to our favour. Okay so were Jacob and Lee and Johnathan. Please allow me to set the stage. Speedy Gonzales was up to bat with no runners on. Now Senior Gonzales likes to run and take advantage of fielders that are less than par, and throws that are less than perfect. Every time he is up to the plate everyone on our team knows to throw it home. Because Speedy likes home and visits frequently. He hits the ball to center field and takes off running. The ball is relayed to 3rd base. However instead of holding up on 3rd, he decides to run home. The ball is scooped up by the 3rd base and fired home (as well as I can fire the ball). Lee scoops the ball up and Speedy changes direction. Lee fires (literally fire was shooting from the ball, I could see it) the ball into 3rd and the 3rd baseman somehow contorts his body (bad mental image) reaches around and applies the tag. The crowd goes wild, the players go wild & speedy walks off the field. It doesn't seem like much but after that play they didn't score another run. Momentum shifted, and as fickle as momentum is, it seemed to never leave us.
Now back to our offense. The score is 7-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning when Jacque steps up to the plate. Now I didn't see what happened, I had a bad vantage. But I think that she stared the pitcher down and made this a mental game. Because after she walked the pour pitcher could find the strike zone. He walked Lee / Cicely as well and that made the bases load for Jacob. Jacob hit a sac fly to the outfield which scored Jacque and and advanced Lee to 3rd. A couple of expletives by the opposing teams catcher and we were on our way. Kimberly take the plate and grounds to the pitcher. Two out bottom of the 5th men on 2nd and 3rd, tying run steps up to the plate........Walk! So now the score is 7-4 with the bases loaded with 2 out in the bottom of the 5th and Johnathan steps to the plate. He could be the hero, he could put this game out of reach, he could hit a grand salami and...........Walk! 2 runs come in and now the score is 7-6. The next player whom shall remain nameless comes to the plate and smack! Line drive to short.
So they go 3 up 3 down in the top of the 6th and we are back where we started. Jacque and her mind games with the pitcher. Whatever she did, they did not want to pitch to her. She has away of intimidating people especially opposing pitchers. Jacque walks and Lee comes up to bat and walks again putting he and Cicely on base. You got it bases loaded no out and absolutely no pressure for Jacob who steps in the batters box. I don't know whether it was the 1st or 2nd pitch but the result was the same base hit to left scoring 2 runs and putting us ahead 7-8. Okay it was Jacob who drove in the winning runs, however I put it out of reach with a single to right scoring 2 more. Ball game! With a 7-10 score the game is called time ran out. We were victorious, and improve to 6-0 on the season.
It was a great win in a game that was an emotional roller coaster. At the end we are on top.
I would like to thank the fans who came to support us. It is always GREAT to hear and encouraging word or two or screams of elation. And our great fans don't disappoint.

Game 4 "Don't call it a come back"
Game 4 (Outlaws vs. Wild Turkeys) 13-12W
This Game would have made the LSU Tigers proud. We fought off numerous errors, cold bats and bad calls by the officials to win in dramatic fashion. This game went the full 7 and lasted 15-20 minutes longer that it should have. The whole team and our fans dug deep and we did what it took to win this one. Football has the 12 Man, Basketball the 6th we have our 11th fielder, our fans! You could not hear yourself think because of the rore of the crowd. This win puts us at 4-0 , a great start to what is shaping up to be a great year.
We felt that we had and unfair advantage and gave them 6 runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first we managed to put 2 runs on the board with a solo HR by Lee and an RBI single, turned double, turned triple, turned out at home by yours truly (I was running on vapors rounding third, also some may notice that I get as much gas mileage as an SUV). In the 3rd they put up 4 more runs making it 10-4 and it stayed that way until the 4th when our bats went to town we tied it up. After that we went back and forth until the last inning when Lee scored the winning run by tagging up on a line drive to the short stop.
Our team never lost hope and fought for every run and out we could get.
Good job Team, way to stay in there.

Game 3
Game 3 - Outlaws vs. Turner Ind. (11-8W)
I am amazed at how our defense rises to the occasion every game. The first 3 innings to my recolection were scoreless. And it wasn't until the 5 or 6th inning when they scored 5 runs. Our hitting was great.
Here are some hitting notables.
Joey - 3B & 1 Run scored
Lee - 2dbl 2 or 3 runs scored
Jacob and Jacob came through with clutch hits and Hailey and Kimmy and Cicely and Christy and Jacque and Sonia and Johnathan all knocked the snot out of the ball.
GREAT GAME!

Game 2
Game 2
Outlaws vs. Underdawgz (11-6W)
It was a slow start however in the second our bats heated up and we put 6 runs on the board. Our defense was awesome only alowing 6 runs and a handfull of hits. When we needed an out we got it.
Defensive standouts are many.....
Sonia made a terific catch behind the plate.
Lee always has his 2 or 3 life saving catches.
Hailey and Jacob shined in the outfield.
& Johnathan had an awesome running diving game saving catch in left field.
On the offensive side everyone gets a pat on the back.
